Soul of Travel

There’s this concept of the ‘soul of travel’. A merchant woman who sold me some leather cloth in the last village we stayed at explained it to me. She said that journeys have an incomprehensible, yet tangible energy within them. And that once you’ve been travelling for long enough you’ll start to feel its rhythm. The five of us have sat around a number of campfires during our travels. I glanced at my friends on the verge of sleep, then back at the flames that seemed to flicker in tune with my heartbeat.
