aka a bunch of things I wanted to talk about in separate posts but forgot!
first things first, I haven’t posted any short stories here for a long time. the last one I wrote was actually meant to be the first of three parts that I wrote all at the same time – meaning all three parts were set to be posted on schedule. the problem was that right after I posted that first one I noticed a few things I wanted to change and eventually ended up rewriting the entire first part. this of course messed up the continuity of the two consecutive parts which meant they needed to be rewritten from scratch as well. compulsively rewriting my work is actually a big problem of mine. plus now that it’s been so long, I have an even bigger urge to just start the whole thing over from scratch. so for now I’m going to say that daze is on hiatus. there are some other stories i’d like to write for the time being!
…so how about that E3 huh. to be honest I really don’t have much to say about it. I tried really hard to not get caught up in the hype this year but. it’s. harder. than. I. thought.
lastly (and I’m really late with this), I wanted to talk about the pokémon announcement that happened last week. in it the pokémon company announced a new pokénn tournament for the nintendo switch, gold and silver for the virtual console, and two sequels for sun and moon – ultra sun and ultra moon. myself along with many other fans were sorely disappointed that the announcement wasn’t for diamond and pearl remakes.
i previously talked about how we don’t need these remakes, but I’ll be honest. i still really wanted them to get announced. regardless, the announcements were really cool and I’m excited for the new games. i think the pokémon series is in a really good spot right now. and for everyone else who is also hopelessly anticipating sinnoh remakes, these announcements came with some good news.
pokémon is in an interesting spot right now. all the games they put up on the virtual console are fully compatible with pokémon bank. so far that’s Red & Blue and now Gold & Silver. add to the fact that omega ruby and alpha sapphire are a thing, it means that the first three generations are compatible with bank. X & Y and Sun & Moon all come with pokémon bank compatibility straight out of the box. while black & white don’t have direct connective capabilities to bank, it’s still possible to connect to it through an intermediary app – the poké transporter. see where I’m going with this? as it stands right now pokémon’s fourth generation, sinnoh, has no way to connect to pokémon bank.
this is a big deal if you look at why pokémon games are remade to begin with. FireRed and LeafGreen – the first set of remakes – were made primarily to bridge the gap between the ganeboy and the gameboy advance. to allow for transferring all the way up to the third generation games. with pokémon bank, the need for that is gone. it’s just a matter of getting every generation hooked up to it.
the way I see it, it could go one of two ways. either they’ll release diamond and pearl on the virtual console (which i think is unlikely considering the amount of DS games on the virtual console right now) or remake them and probably be the last set of true pokémon remakes.
i’m excited for whichever way GameFreak decides to handle this. i could also be completely wrong. these sinnoh remakes could have me going a bit loopy.
